I apologize for misunderstanding, and making a wrong suggestion. I was reaching awkwardly for a shortcut to a name, and reached for the wrong label or idea
Dionysus came from somewhere in the east, and then was adopted in Greece as one of the gods. He was a god of rebirth, living and dying an endless cycle of birth, life, death, rebirth, life... his followers adopted some very extreme practices, among which was consuming great amounts of alcohol to rid themselves of all inhibitions. In Rome, he was called Bacchus, and was tied primarily to the drunkeness and lewd behavior, but that wasn't the point of Dionysus as much as it was the understanding of the Romans.
