Great response from your editor. (Line edits is the term for an editor making a sentence more readable without changing your voice.) I learned long ago from a really good editor that the best editors help your words become more readable without losing your voice, or your intent.
There are ways to help Word handle text faster. Doing occasional Save As to the document and giving it a date identifier to the name of the doc is a big help (This Doc 080416 saved as to This Doc 080616 for instance).
I am so happy that you are in the process and you can look forward to a published book from a real publisher!
