That's ANOTHER fairly modern pattern: "I don't identify as gay or straight or any of that, if I meet and fall in love with Joe or Kris then that's who I'm into but it isn't because of their plumbing". Hence attraction that is neither on the basis of gender nor bio sex but is highly specific to the individuals involved and where there's no clear pattern of attraction-inclination to be invoked. Lots of the younger and less gender-bound seem to think in those terms.
